Altman reminds us that joy is accessible via such time-tested paths as laughter, gratitude, meditation, and more. However, we each need to pay attention to our own internal states and embrace our inner work with intention; the author provides easy, helpful exercises to do this. The book is a small, compact guide to mindfulness practices. Very helpful.

This book’s intent is to give us the tools to get beyond the everyday worries, troubles, and stress that keep us from enjoying the joy in every moment. It offers tips and methods for circumventing our brain’s natural negativity. We then can better our moods, laugh, and enjoy happy times. There are 8 mindfulness strategies in this book to help you reset your “joy compass” and help you keep joy at hand.
The book was well paced, carefully written, had appropriate anecdotes and enough spirituality to satisfy my soul.
I really found it a reminder to go back and do what comes naturally. Thank You to the author for reminding me of what’s truly important.
I gave the book 4 stars because of the ease of reading and application, as well as the writers subject knowledge and my own emotional response.
