I’m a Chicken Soup for the Soul fan. In this one, “Thanks to my Mom,” the stories of hope, wisdom, and love touched my heart. I’m giving my Mom a copy for Mother’s Day.

This is a precious book of stories gathered from men and women about their mothers. You will read about mothers as role models for their children, moms that rise to health challenges, and even moms who get into playful mischief. Moms can be cheerleaders, instill wisdom in their children, and they love and accept their children. Moms are our first teachers.

So many wonderful stories to read and think about. I would like to share one with you. It is Nancy Julien Kopp’s story called “Mom’s recipe for Life”. What a wonderful role model Julien’s mother was for her in her life. Her mom’s recipe was to smile and make conversation with people she met on the street, in line at the grocery store, where ever she was. Julien said it often embarrassed her, but as Julien became older she saw the gift of her mother’s recipe and began to follow the recipe herself. We never know who may need that smile or just the recognition of a “hello”.

This is a book worth reading. Remember your mother is only with you a short time. Appreciate her life lessons, let her know she is loved, and never take her for granted.

It’s that time of year again when we all take the time to say thanks to our moms for all they have done for us. Chicken Soup for the Soul has released this edition just for mom: Thanks to my Mom. It’s filled with stories that are guaranteed to make you laugh; make you cry; and relate to your own mom.

As always there are several sections with specific focus like Great Role Models, The Wisdom of Mothers and my favorite: Maternal Mischief.
I strive to be a fun mom in my own life so I like stories that make me laugh and show the beautiful fun spirit moms have.

I like that Chicken Soup always has stories that are funny, touching and serious. It’s such a great balance of all which is a true testament to the many hats that moms wear.

My mother is a big reader so this is actually the perfect gift for her on many levels!
